Why join TSA?
Jules Jones, 2017
As a senior at Virginia Tech, I am grateful I had the opportunity to be a part of TSA. I have been able to share my experiences through TSA with other students who have not heard of the organization. TSA has prepared me to have a competitive edge. Being a part of TSA has enhanced my public speaking, writing, and problem solving skills. These are valuable skills used to succeed in college.

Just being in TSA really bolstered my applications, especially as an officer considering I'm at a school that focuses on engineering and leadership. I'm also doing a lot of hands on work with engines now, so getting familiar with working hands on with things was a huge help. I'm taking an electrical engineering course next trimester too, so I'm sure some things I learned will come in handy. And getting used to doing all this stuff in a uniform was pretty useful for me specifically.

I believe that TSA was the most influential club at Elizabeth Forward for my college decision. I am currently a Weapons, Robotics, and Control major at the United States Naval Academy. TSA exposed me to robotics as well certain aspects of control engineering. I remember designing my plane for the flight event, where I learned a lot about the inner mechanics between engineering systems. Here at USNA my schedule is very hectic and I believe that balancing TSA, along with schoolwork, and sports prepared me for it. I would recommend TSA to every student who enjoys challenges, wants a better connection to technology, and is actively striving to be prepared for the rigors of college.

Now that I have entered college at the University of Pittsburgh, I now understand how TSA has prepared me for college and my future and I strongly recommend joining. TSA teaches students problem solving skills, and provided me with a competitiveness that is essential in an educational and career atmosphere. I am grateful for my time in TSA and how it inspired my interests in technology and encouraged me to pursue a degree in Computer Science. TSA builds leadership skills and teaches students about the power of using technology to create, challenge, lead, and inspire.

TSA is the club of opportunities. It gave me the chance to learn at least basic knowledge of almost any subject from debates to drag races. These hands on experiences taught me how to learn quick on my feet and gave me the ability to master anything at the blink of an eye which would come in handy anywhere in the real world especially the Fleet. I'm glad to have had the experience under my belt and be glad to recommend it to any one of my colleagues.

TSA has prepared me for college and granted me many opportunities that other clubs didn’t. Not only does it give you useful skills you can use in everyday life, but it gives you friendships that will last a lifetime. My favorite part about TSA was always the problem solving aspect. It taught me how to solve problems even when there are little resources. I will forever be grateful for what TSA has given me. STEM is so important in today’s world and has inspired me to peruse a career in the medical field. As a Biology major, there have been many times where the skills I have learned in TSA (especially being able to work collaboratively with other people) have came in handy. If you want to be apart of something that will not only shape your future but will give you lasting memories, TSA is the right environment.

I first found my love for TSA in 7th grade at EFMS. I have gone to 4 regional conferences (1 being virtual) and 4 state conferences (1 being virtual) between my 5 years of being an active member. I have also served as an officer for 4 years (Secretary for 1, Vice President for 1, and President for 2) while being an active member of many state committees and serving as the Region 6 Representative. TSA has taught me to just be me. I have learned so many leadership skills and have made life long friends from all over Pennsylvania. If you have the opportunity to join, please do. You will fall in love with all of the fun you will have while learning how to be successful. PS: Bring your own breakfast to states. The line is longer than the list of kids signing up to do Tech Bowl because they need an event.

Where do I begin? TSA was one of my favorite clubs throughout high school. I was involved in the EFHS chapter for four years, serving as the Treasurer, Vice President, and President. TSA has taught me many valuable lessons like teamwork and patience. I believe that TSA set me up for success in pursuing a STEM Degree. One of my favorite memories was attending the state conference at Seven Springs. The long weekend was filled with great memories and making new friends. I believe TSA has an event for everyone’s interest so definitely consider joining!

Even though I joined TSA as a senior, I was immediately welcomed in. Being treasurer and a regional representative gave me so many opportunities to work on leadership skills that have prepared me for my future. What sets TSA apart is how all of the skills you learn are applicable to the real world and especially STEM fields. TSA gave me an opportunity to express my creativity and meet so many new people with the same love for STEM. There’s really something for everyone. My only regret is not joining sooner.
